Picnic in the tiny park like the prow of a ship at the end of the island. Go over the bridge and take a walk through St Germain if you have time.
I did this once: arrived at Orly in the morning, took the metro into town, found the only station in town that had lockers for my suitcase (Montmartre, I think -- and it was not the station my train was leaving from, so I had to do some commuting), wandered around in a bit of a haze, and made my evening train to Rome with no problem. I did wake up with an obnoxious Italian in the compartment, but that's another story. (And there were sunflowers out the window, so that helped).
After Africa, it will completely blow your mind.

Re: I’m a stranger here myself

John, Enjoyed reading this. I still have both of my grandmothers...one 91, the other 97. I know the day is coming.
When I read, "Tell everyone hello" that made ME cry. What a sweet goodbye. I'm glad she had you there with her.
Don't worry about playing video games or whatever you need to do...people get through pain however they can do it...how you deal with things has no bearing on who you are or how much you loved her. The next few days will be busy ones and you will need time just to clear your head.
Again, you have my condolences. A big virtual hug for you.

Re: Rest in peace

My sincere sympathy, John.

Re: Rest in peace

John, sympathy to you and your family at this time. I think what I've given you in the past
has been combinations of oils (palm, coconut, olive, etc.). Right now I
need to focus on some simple soaps to take on the trip. I'll try to get
something for you and the family after that. :)

Re: Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble

oooh! I never did try soap making. I know I can pay for unscented plain soap that would work for rebatching if I wanted to make it fancy so I think I'll do that one of these days rather than deal with lye which doesn't sound fun.

Re: My apologies to the chef

Oooh, I love Cook's magazine.
