Can anyone help me?

Re: World Action Singers

As a former World Action Singer, I'm wondering why this article is entitled,"World Action Singers." I didn't see anything about "us" in your article.

Re: World Action Singers

Hey Grady! I somehow ran across your writing and was intrigued. I, too, was at ORU during this time (graduate, 1974). In fact, I sang on many of the TV shows and specials in the 70's. I was very close to Richard and Patti and spent a lot of time at their home. We were a very close knit group and I remember going on vacation with them to Palm Springs one summer. We rented a home on a golf course for two weeks.

I especially loved being with Patti. She was real. She knew what her job was and she enjoyed it. She also realized at some point that it was not going to last. Unfortunately she had a better voice than Richard and Oral hated the idea that someone else might steal the spotlight from his son. I also hate the fact that so much negative stuff was created about her. She had a halarious sense of humor and I'll never forget the years I spent singing with her.

Richard changed sometime after I graduated. I'm not sure if he "found the light" or just realized that he could end up taking the reins of the whole organization and it changed him. I only saw Richard once after I left the organization and moved away. He was stand offish and arrogant. We've never spoken since. I did get a chance to email back and forth with Patti a few years ago. She's still funny and GREAT!

Re: World Action Singers

It is refreshing to find a sober opinion of the issues at hand. If our leaders (on campus) are not telling us that the devil has come against ORU and we should rebuke every lie and allegation against the president, the media is desecrating and tainting a university truly founded on the heart of God.

It seems not that the enemy has come to destroy ORU but that God has appointed this time for sincerity from the student body and is activating the reality of His purpose.

It is a strange time to be on campus. President Roberts has rallied a lot of support from the students. Most students are not sure how to comprehend that the man is fallible.

Re: World Action Singers

Well, as I said, I didn't particularly agree with it either.

Re: World Action Singers

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Sort of been preoccupied with the health stuff.
Now, I want you to know how much value are in these posts about going to ORU. You see, I have a tendency to be very dismissive about this stuff, but I'm really enjoying your personal story going along with this.

I won't deny that I thought the whole "Calling me home" thing was nuts to me. But I am enjoying your take on this and wanted you to know.

Re: World Action Singers

Excellent post, John.

I have so much I could say on this topic, but I think for now I'll refrain. *sigh*
